Nagoya-Port Vessel Traffic Service Center

To ensure safety of navigation in the Port of Nagoya, navigation control is carried out to the vessels proceeding in waterways by displaying traffic control signal with electric characters at Storm Tide Breakwater East Signal Station. Storm Tide Breakwater West Signal Station, Kinjo Signal Station and Nagoya North Signal Station (at Nagoya Signal Station, with flashing signals).


1.Explanation of Terms

(1) The following vessels proceeding in the following each waterways are gcontrolled vesselsh.

Designated vessels
East waterway @vessels of 270m or more in length
@oil tankers 5,000GT or more
West waterway @vessels of 175m or more in length
@oil tankers 5,000GT or more
North waterway

(2) The following vessels are gvessels subject to controlh.

Vessels of 50m or more in length( except the vessels less than 500GT and the controlled vessels proceeding in the each waterways )



2.Passages and Controlled Waterways


The passages and controlled waterways are shown in the figure at right.

Types and meanings of traffic control signals are described in the following pages.

A traffic control signal board and information signal board are set up at Kinjo Signal Station (Center Tower) as shown in the figure at left. On the information signal board, frames enclosing characters are displayed to make identification easier.
