Specific Modes of Navigation in the Port of Nagoya

1.Passage Priority

(1) Vessels navigating the West and North Passage must not obstruct the course of vessels navigating the East Passage.

(2) Vessels navigating the West Passage must not obstruct the course of vessels navigating the North Passage if the former are expected to encounter the later.



2.Prohibition of Overtaking at Curves

Vessels navigating the West Passage are prohibited to overtake other vessels while in the 500m zones on both sides of the line drawn between its northern and eastern curve points.



3.Prohibition of Crossing at Curves

While a vessel is navigating the curve of the West Passage, other vessels must not do the following.

¥Enter into the passage from outside.

¥Deviate from the passage.

¥Cross the passage.



4.Keeping to Starboard


Vessels of less than 500 GT must keep to the starboard side when in the passages.
